LOCATION: Hartland, WI
REPORTING TO: VP, Corporate Controller
POSITION PURPOSE:
This accountant will work with the corporate accounting team to help ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial information for both management analysis and external (SEC) readers. The accountant will report directly to the MHNA Controller.
RESPONSIBILITIES/ TASKS:
The accountant will be responsible for the following items/ areas:
• recording and reconciling capitalized software and related amortization in accordance with FAS 86;
• recording and reconciling fixed assets and related depreciation and amortization;
• preparation of periodic sales and use tax returns and related reconcilations;
• assist with sales and use tax audits as needed;
• recording and documentation related to software revenue recognition;
• performing general ledger review and general account responsibility for select accounts;
• maintain project accounting system including related customer billings;
• performing ongoing Sarbanes-Oxley review and control testing in conjunction with other accounting department personnel; and
• from time to time, performance of analysis projects as assigned by MHNA Controller.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:
• At least 2 years experience working in public accounting and 1 year working in private industry is preferred or 4 + years working in private industry as a general accountant.
• Proficiency in Excel and Word.
• General knowledge of working with an accounting general ledger system.
• The ability to work effectively in a team as well as independently, as required.
• Good problem solving skills.
• Desire to learn and prepare analysis and account for new areas not previously encountered.
PREFERED SKILLS:
• Experience with software revenue recognition rules a plus.
• Experience with SEC filings / external reporting documents.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• B.S. in business or accounting.
